Dedopulos
This book promises an amazing challenge, a journey all over the world and a prize certainly worth thinking about. Less of a book than a set of clues, set by Dedopulos, a highly experienced fantasy writer and puzzle setter, The Great Global Treasure Hunt is a quest that requires nothing more than use of a computer, and a curious mind.
Taking inspiration from the amazing powers of Google Earth, and combining it with his love of treasure hunting (he once hid a necklace and put clues inside books in the University library...the necklace was gone three years later), Dedopolus has created a masterpiece, that is both enjoyable, and a real challenge to solve!
We were a little apprehensive when we first looked at this as it was launched on 1st September this year – not considering ourselves geniuses (or should that be genii?!), would we be able to even begin the quest? Well never fear. Time, if not anything else, is on our side, and the challenge is open until 31st March 2012, and all you really need for this is determination (the €50,000 prize money might spur you on!), a careful eye, and a lateral mind. The clues consist of pictures, some with commentary, although not all, which, taken together lead to a solution.
The book is lovely to look at – the illustrations are bright and clear, and the overall design is very attractive – which only makes this challenge more compelling! There is no age limit, so there is really no excuse, plus you can visit www.jointhetreasurehunt.com and try your luck asking questions of the man himself on Twitter @Dedopulos.
The Great Global Treasure Hunt is out now, available from Carlton Books.
